LEARNING FROM & WITH EACH OTHER
Community Gatherings
-
Wednesdays from 9am-10am
Beyond Barriers is a coffee/support group created by community members who want a safe, welcoming space for people to support one another.
It’s designed for anyone, whether it’s someone struggling with addiction, mental health, loneliness or simply needing a space to feel belonging and to be heard.
Through conversation and connection, Beyond Barriers offers a compassionate environment where participants can share, support and grow together.
-
Tuesday mornings during drop-in: 10am-1pm
By gathering people proactively, Craft Tuesdays builds a foundation of friendship and belonging, making it easier for anyone to reach out when they feel isolated or in need of support. The simple act of using your hands to create — whether crafting, painting, or making something new — offers a therapeutic sense of calm and connection that helps people feel grounded and welcome.
Learning Opportunities

Regional Connections utilizes our space to host their weekly English Café from September till May. Including volunteers, adults and children, they average 35-50 people each Monday.
Inspired by the English Café, we’ve seen both a Spanish Café & French Café begin. Each of these programs is led by community members (Marina Ermosa and Paul Dorion), but hosted at TCE. On a weekly basis, there’s anywhere from 6 – 12 individuals attending each of them.
Both Spanish Café & French Café take a break for the summer months from June-August.

Over the years, TCE has continued to work together with Steps to promote and host opportunities to build relationship with, and learn from our indigenous community members/neighbours.
We’ve co-hosted events, co-promoted speakers, and helped to organize a bus that would take community members to Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation for the Truth & Reconcilation Walk, which had nearly 200 people participate.
We share a common goal of exploring ways to better learn from/with our indigenous neighbours, and look forward to some of our upcoming events - such as movie nights and book clubs.

The Altona Community Action Network (ACAN) seeks to inspire sustainable practices in our community through education and action.
TCE has partnered with ACAN for various events in the Altona area, including their annual Fruit Jam Fundraising Concert and Active Transportation days.
